I'm hoping it keeps that way without much fade, and am going to be polishing/applying something to the surface since it has no clearcoat.

Some danish brand of paint that's commonly used for heavy machinery and tractors, such stuff. Corrosion protection and no need for a clear coat ontop, and it lasted 2 years so far without any real fade to it on dad's "truck"

are you spraying with a real paint gun etc? or is this stuff just a spray can?

Real paint gun, dad's used it for painting a few banger cars and it holds up decently on those aswell. Gotten a bit more matte in it after 2 days now, but i'll let it sit for a week to dry properly before polishing it up.
